The Skinny

Lifefactory took the classic baby bottle design and revamped it with features that make it ready for modern-day families and bottle-feeding needs. The borosilicate glass and a silicone sleeve increase durability to withstand most bumps and bounces, easing any worries about broken glass near babies. Also, the freezer-safe glass can go from frigid temperatures to a warmer without missing a beat. The best part is, with all the different accessories Lifefactory offers, you can use this versatile bottle from our best baby bottle review for years after your baby is through with bottles.

This bottle is a classic, and its simple and clean design makes it hard to misuse this bottle. Although it is glass, the silicone sleeve comes with your purchase and is pretty all-encompassing, keeping the bottle safe from most accidents. The use of thermal shock-resistant borosilicate glass helps with durability and allows you to place this bottle directly from the freezer to bottle warmer without worrying about temperature shock. The volume markings are on the outside of the silicone sleeve and are raised dots with corresponding numbers beside them. They are easy to read and can be felt if it is too dark to see.

The small ridges on the bottom of the Lifefactory nipple raise it up from the lip of the bottle just enough to let some air through.

This bottle has only three parts, making it easy to clean and assemble. The vent system consists of ridges on the bottom side of the nipple that allow it to raise from the bottle's lip slightly. This system works well if you don't screw on the cap too tightly, in which case you may experience nipple collapse.

We love the versatility of this bottle. The glass makes it a healthier option than plastic for your baby's food. With the help of a flat cap, you can use this bottle as a breastmilk storage container. Later down the road, you can purchase a sippy top to use with toddlers. So, despite a higher upfront cost, and the additional accessories, this bottle can grow with your child and offer multiple uses with interchangeable caps.

Dislikes

Although this is a great bottle, we would change a few things if it were up to us. The first is the narrow mouth opening, which makes it harder to clean and requires a bottle brush. The narrow neck also means the liquid transfer is challenging, and the nipple base isn't very wide. Although our testers did not experience any trouble getting a good latch with this bottle, exclusively breastfed babies may have some difficulty with the smaller nipple.

The nipple on the Lifefactory is one of the smallest in the group.

Baby was able to fit the entire nipple in her mouth, but it did not seem to bother her too much.

Because of volume marking placement, it can be challenging to line up the liquid with the measurements. And, because they are on the sleeve and not the bottle, it is possible that they may move or become misaligned slightly, making it a poor choice if consumption accuracy is important.

In our opinion, having a bottle made from glass is the #1 choice, but it also means that it is more likely to break than plastic or silicone. It also adds a lot of weight to the bottle, and babies may not be able to hold it on their own until they are older.
